Lu Wixon

Lu Wixon paints with acrylic on wood. Lu works out of a studio in her home which includes a wood shop. She designs her pieces either by employing the natural elements of the wood itself or by drawing, cutting out, painting and assembling up to several layers. Charlie Slate

"During a long hiatus, I attended many classes, learning new techniques, or brushing up on old ones. I’m an artist member of Upstate Visual Arts, and of the Metropolitan Arts Council, and am now exhibiting my work again, this time primarily with shibori and vat dye/discharge techniques.
I teach children in Design Excursion, which is part of the Encore enrichment program at Stone Academy of Communication Arts in Greenville. I also teach summer classes for children and adults."

Charles Slate

"I began my photography excursion while a student at Clemson University in the late 70’s. Photography has always been an artistic passion and has taught me to be thankful for all of the beauty that is in our lives."

Mark Mulfinger

"Most of my artwork is dependent upon the visible world immediately around me.
My numerous sketch books attest to my obsession with drawing anything in my environment. Even the simplified forms around me when confined to a flat surface impress me with a new found essence. The reality that arises from extracting forms from nature fuels my creative process encouraging me to compose with shadow and color."

Jean Wilder

"I work out of my house where I had a studio built several years ago. My current work includes sculpture and features animals with clothing and human characteristics. These pieces are colorful and quite detailed. I have also been working on handbuilt pieces and tiles that feature the self-portraits of Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. Functional pieces made on the potter’s wheel continue to be an interest of mine and are part of my repertoire."

David Starzec

Dave developed this technique he calls "photoimpression" several years ago. He captures the image with a low resolution digital camera. He then prints the image onto watercolor paper using a large format IRIS press, which uses water-soluable pigment based inks. He then uses a brush and plain water to manipulate the ink on the print. The images are finished by applying pastels and graphite.
